Frequently Asked Questions
Who can get laser hair removal?
Anyone interested in removing unwanted hair! Our advanced Astanza MeDioStar diode laser uses a unique combination of wavelengths to treat all skin types.
Can all hair be treated?
The laser beam targets the pigment in the hair. Therefore, some hairs will react better to treatment than others. For example, very dark hair from dark black and brown to dark blonde will respond well to the laser. In comparison, white or grey hair may not respond as well due to the lack of pigmentation. Clients who have high contrast between their skin and hair pigments, such as a patient with light skin and dark hair, will experience optimal results.
Which areas can I get treated?
We can treat all body areas, including the bikini area and face. The most popular areas include the legs, arms, back, chest, upper lip, and underarms. Our MeDioStar laser’s small handpiece is excellent for precise treatment on smaller areas.
Do I need to shave before treatment?
Yes. We ask clients to shave before treatment to avoid the absorption of light by the hair above the skin. However, it is crucial that you DO NOT pluck, wax, or epilate the hair before treatment. Laser hair removal is only successful on hairs attached to the follicle root.
How many treatments will I need?
For permanent hair reduction, most clients require a minimum of 6 to 12 treatments spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart. This waiting period is necessary to target each hair during the anagen phase when it’s actively growing.
Is the laser safe?
Yes! Not only is our MeDioStar laser FDA approved, but as an electrologist trained in laser hair removal, I use custom protocols to match your specific skin and hair type. Furthermore, the MeDioStar can safely treat all skin types!
Does the laser hurt?
Thanks to our MeDioStar laser’s integrated 360º cooling system, the laser is virtually painless. Clients may feel a prickling sensation at most. Each handpiece immediately cools the skin before each treatment pulse for maximum comfort and skin alleviation while eliminating the risk of thermal injury.
Are there any side effects?
Laser hair removal is a very safe procedure with limited side effects. This non-invasive treatment uses light energy to safely travel through the skin and target the melanin in hair without damaging any surrounding skin tissue. The most common side effects are temporary redness, itchiness, and skin swelling. These side effects diminish within a few hours following treatment.
How long will each treatment take?
Treatment time is based on the area being treated. Smaller areas, such as upper lip and chin, can take up to 2 minutes with the small handpiece. By utilizing the XL handpiece on large body areas, it is possible to complete a client’s back in as little as 4 minutes!
